Walleye

Walleye fishing has slightly improved from last week. There have been reports of increased Walleye activity in 8-12 feet of water around weeds and wood on Nightcrawlers and Minnows. Last night, however, several reports came in suggesting increased Walleye activity around rock bars on stick baits and jerk baits. One group of anglers last night reported catching their limit in a matter of a couple of hours using that tactic. That said….definitely target the 8-12 foot mark around the weeds and cover….but also diversify your approach and target rock piles and bars as well with a variety of jerkbaits and stickbaits.

Musky

Musky action has increased a lot over the weekend….particularly as it relates to Suckers. A LOT more fish have been caught this past week/weekend on Musky Suckers than in the previous several weeks. The Muskies have been primarily sitting in 3-8 feet in the weeds. The general consensus is that a lot of Muskies are following baits in but are not hitting. Those anglers that are dropping suckers down as a back up are seeing a lot of hookups on those fish that follow in but don't hit the lure. Lures that are generating action are still surface baits and off-set blade bucktails. As always, you should be doing figure-8s after every cast given the Muskies' pattern to follow in so much this week.

Northern

Pike are still active in the shallow weeds. You can certainly use live bait at this point if you want to drop down some suckers. But Tinseltails and Chatter Flashes are still dominating the Pike action. As per usual…the West Side is producing better Pike numbers and size than the East side.

Crappie

Crappie action has been really solid! The Crappie have been reported in 16-22 feet primarily in the cribs. Some have reported success fishing deeper brush as well, but the cribs have been where the bulk of the action has been. Crappie Minnows have been a very hot commodity over the last several days, but Gulp 1-inch minnows, Bobby Garland Mayflies, and Mini-Mites are also putting fish in the boat as well.

Bass

The Smallmouth bite has been really good on the Southeast end. They are currently hitting a variety of baits, but Ned Rigs, Plastic Craws, and Chatterbaits seem to be the most effective. The Largemouth have been a little quieter than the Smallmouth this week, but that I think is mostly due to a lack of people targeting the Largemouth this week as opposed to them being a bit less active.

Weather

Temps this week are looking to be a little warmer. Highs this week look to range from the mid 70s to low 80s while lows are forecasted to range from the mid 50s to low 60s all week. Looks like it will be partially cloudy most of the week but no rain forecasted until next Saturday.

Water Temp at time of this report

65 Degrees

General

Fall Color Report: Not much has changed since last week. We have a few more colors than reported last week but not much more to write home about. I would say we are still around that 25 to 30% mark…maybe slightly more.
