Walleye

The Walleye bite has been decent lately if you adjust your tactics. Some folks are catching a few Walleye here and there in the weeds, but a lot of action has come on the mud flats in about 15 to 18 feet. Reports of a bug hatch are going on at the moment and the Walleyes are most likely feeding on some tasty Mayflies. Minnows and leeches are still good baits, but imitation Mayflies for the next few days should prove very successful.

Musky

The Musky bite has been solid. A lot of Muskies are up shallow chasing all kinds of baitfish and spawning Bluegills at the moment. Target some of those shallow to mid depth weedy areas. Smaller top waters have been effective, and local guide Steve Genson pointed out that paddletail swimbaits have been extra effective this week. With rising water temps, you can start using bigger baits with summer being just on the horizon.

Northern

The pike bite has been good, although most people are catching them on accident fishing for other species. They are sitting around shallow weeds at the moment similar to the Muskies. Tinseltail Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, and Weedless Spoons are going to be your go-to's for artificials. Eventhough things have been heating up out on the water, a good amount of people are still reporting success on live bait as well.

Crappie

Crappie are no longer in the shallows and are heading out into the lake. As stated in the Walleye section, there have been reports of a Mayfly hatch so it is possible you may find Crappies and Walleyes mixed in together feeding on Mayflies in 15 to 18 feet over the Mud Flats. Crappie minnows are certainly a great choice, but if you notice the hatch is still going definitely switch it up to an artificial mayfly. Voodoo Custom Jigs have been a big producer for Crappies this week as well.

Panfish

Bluegills are in shallow water starting their spawn. They are similar to Crappies in that they like the shallow water, but prefer more sandy and gravel bottoms as opposed to weedbeds. Waxies have been SUPER popular along with Bugger and Flashbang jigs from Voodoo Custom Tackle.

Bass

Not too many people have been targeting the bass but most bass reports have them up Shallow in the weeds and lily pads. With this onset of warmer temperatures, your more typical bass tactics in shallow weeds should start to be more successful. Throwing Frogs and Spinners into the weeds should produce some good fish for you.

Weather

It is going to be a warm and pleasant week! The highs are forecasted to be in the low 80s for most of the week through the weekend with the exception of Thursday which will see a high of 70. Lows will be consistently in the high 50s to low 60s. Expect some light rain on Thursday.

Water Temp at time of this report
