May Pike Improvement Update
3,844 pike harvested (thru June 3) – that’s 38% of the way to our goal!
20.3” average length of pike harvested, and 84% under 24 inches
805 anglers from 16 different states have participated
Pat’s Landing leads all host locations with 1,013 registered pike, next is Musky Tale (622), Treeland’s (497), and Tiger Musky (220). But we are also seeing nice contributions from many other resorts. 9 other resorts have at least 50 pike registered.
This one is shaping up to be a barn burner! We have 3 anglers with 30+ pike harvested, and the difference between the top two right now is ONE fish. With 23 other anglers having registered 15 or more fish, there could easily be a new leader in the near future. This part of the competition has not gotten much attention, so any ideas to help spread the word are welcome.
Team Treeland won our first monthly competition, by a healthy margin. Though I am sure Team Musky Tale wishes they could get a do-over on the weather. They will be receiving their traveling trophy “Pippy Le Pike” to display for the month.
Our June competition will be won by the host location (resort, bait shop, etc.) that can beat their May harvest total by the biggest margin. Tournament caught fish will not count towards the May totals for Treeland’s, Pat’s, Musky Tale, or Deerfoot so they don’t start at a disadvantage. This should be a wide open competition for the Pippy Trophy!
Sharing the news:
I have created several jpegs that can be shared on social media (Attn: Amanda, Tatum, etc.). We will also have photos of Team Treeland receiving the Pippy Trophy this afternoon that we can share around.
