The Chippewa Flowage Area Property Owners Association (CFAPOA)
and Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust (CWRLT)
are pleased to present the Chippewa Islands Project.
Thanks to the vision and stewardship of people in prior decades, 90% of the shoreline and nearly all of the islands on the Flowage are undeveloped and will stay that way.
We did it!!
Thanks to your commitment and generosity
We have SAVED Big Timber Island
On January 27, 2004 the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board unanimously approved the acquisition of the privately owned parcel on Big Timber Island. On February 4, 2004 Governor Jim Doyle signed the purchase agreement. Documents and deeds have been signed and recorded. It's a Done Deal!
Your gifts, totaling over $50,000 made this possible. One can give without loving but no one can love without giving. The hundreds of people who gave what they could have proven they truly love this wonderful semi-wilderness resource. You have proven to everyone the Chippewa Islands Project is for real. You have made the first half of the Chippewa Islands Project a rousing success!
Now, let's save "Moonshine" island!
Located on the south side of Moonshine Lake, the island has approximately 20 acres and 3000 feet of frontage that are privately owned. It lies in the beautifully wild southeast quadrant. This is the last privately owned, undeveloped island property on the Chippewa Flowage. With your help it can be secured from development.

We have been in contact with the owners and they are receptive to our goals. Most of the logistical infrastructure for this effort is in place from our success with the Big Timber phase. Remaining details will be worked out over the next few weeks. This acquisition is consistent and in perfect harmony with the Chippewa Flowage Joint Agency Management Plan. Ultimately this purchase may also require the approval of the Natural resources Board and the governor.

The Chippewa Islands Project remains a co-operative effort of the Chippewa Flowage Area Property Owners Association and the Couderay Water Regional Land Trust to facilitate and expedite this transaction.
Broad based public support for the Project was pivotal in the success of the Big Timber phase. The number and variety of supporting organizations, the number and amounts of contributions were absolutely critical. YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!
While we anticipate the public launch of the "Moonshine" effort around May 1st, our accounts are open for contributions NOW. CWRLT is a 501 (c)(3) Non-profit organization. Contributions are tax deductable dependant only on one's individual tax filing status.
No contribution is too large; no contribution is too small.
All contributions are greatly appreciated.
All donors of $250 or more will receive a written receipt for their records.

The transfer of this property to public or quasi public ownership will fill in the last piece of the puzzle; be the last brush stroke on the vision of an enduring, though heavily used, semi-wilderness paradise in the heart of Wisconsin’s vacationland.
This is an opportunity to give a little something back; or maybe, to give something forward, to our grandchildren's grandchildren and beyond. Please give what you can.
Thank you!
