An eagle sitting in a tree watching us as we loaded the boat. Otters playing on the shore.

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
Beautiful scenery and the wildlife. A great place to relax and renew your soul. Terry and Diane at Chippewa Pines - the kindest hosts you'll ever have.

Stories:
Took a nice swim off the boat, involuntarily. Kept my head above water. Soaked from the waist down. Very funny. We'll be laughing about that all the way home. We took home our two day limit of panfish. Great Fishing. Great Time.

Most remarkable thing we saw:
My Dad getting some form of pigment on his LEGS! Believe me, it's a rarity. Oh, and plenty of bald eagles.

Best place we ate:
Hot dogs in the cabin....we don't need fancy

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
The beautiful aviary of wild birds and other natural creatures. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Stories:
We named a new style of fishing...Crossfishing. It happened when my Dad at steer and my brother at bow decided to fish opposite ends of the boat, inevitably crossing lines...hence the term. Not entirely recommended, however they both ended up with fish on the line.

One cold and rainy evening I was out fishing and saw and heard loons dancing, a crane sitting in a tree like a Christmas ornament and an eagle flying so close I could almost touch him

Deer, eagles, loons, ducks and musky jumping out of the water. Also saw a large black bear on Hwy B on the side of the road.

Our deck - grilled salmon and steaks

the peacefulness and listening to the loons.

Stories:
While out musky fishing we had two strikes at once, A DOUBLE One went airborn, but neither were hooked up ---- bummer.

Eagles, bats, chipmunks, blue herons, Excellent thunderstorm. Beautiful sunrises.

In our cabin. There is nothing better than food prepared on a charcoal grill. And R & R Bayview.

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
A great place to get away from it all. Thank you Barb & Pete for your kind hospitality.

Stories:
We stayed in the Bluegill Cabin, which has a remarkable view. Because of it's location we got to meet everyone at the Resort. It was very entertaining. Sam loved barking at the squirrels and chipmunks.

Neighbors took us to Ghost Island to see old gravestones, very cool. Jerry guided us around and hooked us up with some great fishing spots.

Friendly people

Stories:
First day out, too many islands, we were lost, getting back at sunset. Other boats directed us. Sister-in-law had too much spirits in the hot sun, saw a bear driving a pontoon boat. We told her it wasn't a bear, it was a Yeti a.k.a. Big Foot!

There was a gorgeous rainbow over the lake the last day we were here.

Exploring, fishing, tubing and enjoying the sun.

Stories:
On our second day of fishing the brand new $75 anchor unhooked itself at the bottom of the Flowage. On the last day we did a rescue mission with a snorkle and goggles to find it. Amazingly we were successful and found it!

An eagle must have stolen a little bird's baby. A little bird chased the eagle, landing on the eagle's back. Don't mess with a mom's baby.

The abundance of nature everywhere you look.

Stories:
I caught a salamander on a worm while drifting for walleye. Saw a bug that looked like a stick swimming 3 under the waters surface. Saw a snapping turtle with a head as big as my fist.

6/19/09
24 garter snake swam up the side of our boat right into the center of the bench seat. Jeff flung it back into the water and it swam right back up the side of the boat. Maybe he is still in the belly of the boat!

It's a tie - Ray Jays, and three other well known restaurants

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
The abundance of fish, especially walleye. Maybe we didn't catch that many or large fish, but after many years up north we did the best ever by staying and fishing here.

Stories:
Uncle Bob had a habit of hitting the shore with his rigs...on logs, on sandy beaches, and in the trees. The group is accustomed to his casting prowess.

Moore's Bay crappie fishing in the fall. Hayward area is awesome beauty

Stories:
Fishing off the back of our docked boat I could tell I had something more on my line than just a crappie. Suddenly the line snapped, but I never saw what it was. The next day again I could tell there was something on the line, but different from the feel of a crappie. I slowly brought it up and a 32 - 36 musky showed itself before it snapped the line, making my heart almost stop. I let out a scream, and then had to explain to the nearby fishermen two docks down! I'll never forget that fish, and those fishermen will probably never forget that crazy lady screaming in the back of her boat.

The limited shoreline development, limited light pollution (some room for improvement). Most bass boats slowed for canoes. The size of it.

Stories:
We liked the 1920's cabin, that we could bring our dog, we were off the main drag for traffic, friendly owners, moderate size of the resort.

The serenity of the lake and endless areas to fish.

Stories:
After a full day of fishing with my son, our battery power was completely gone. We were halfway to the resort, travelling in the dark, and ran out of gas. We had no oars or paddles so we used our fishing net to paddle to shore. Then my best friend (member of the P.W.T. Fishing team) towed us back.

A Great Blue Heron (a young one) came down and pecked at my muskie lure. Yanked it away before he got hooked!

Stories:
Great Blue Heron story under Most remarkable thing we saw. We also saw two bear on our trip. One ran across the road (near Johnson's resort driveway) and we saw one come down to the water's edge near Chippewa Pines. My 11 year old son had his first Muskie on his pole however the fish took the bait (surface lure) down into the weeds and shook loose. He now knows next time he must set the hook! Great vacation and can't wait till next time!!

After 18 years of vacationing at Reeder's Recess Resort we are still awed by the breath taking natural beauty and appreciate the natural environment rather than development.

Stories:
"We canoed the Namekagon River for the second year. We again rented from Lee at a local canoe rental busines. He remembered us as the couple who capsized last year. We assured him we were more experienced. Unbelieveably, we capsized again and lost a paddle (and sandal)When we ran into a fallen tree we happily recovered our lost paddle (and sandal!)The landing at Springbrook did not go happily however and we lost the newly found sandal and paddle again. Lee says he will customize a route for us next year! We can hardly wait."

"Simply relaxing, so peaceful especially early in the morning and after sunset."

Stories:
This was our first stay at a resort and it was great. We saw loons with a recently hatched baby on a parents' back. The adult would swim out from under the baby and look for food. The baby would swim to the other adult. After the first adult surfaced the second parent swam out from under the baby and the baby swam to the first adult. This continued for quite a while.

Bob was bringing the fish out of the water by the boat. He couldn't believe how heavy it was. When he pulled it out of the water there was a HUGE snapping turtle hanging on to the live net.
