EVERYTHING!

Stories:
Best Friend Rick ran out of gas on the flowage, we had to tow him in to Johnson's
Best Friend Paul fell into the flowage off of his boat. Still can't figure out how that happened
Saw two overweight middle aged men wearing speedos at the pool - Scared the heck out of me.

On our way back to the cabin there was a ginormous black bear crossing the road

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
The serenity of the lake and endless areas to fish.

Stories:
After a full day of fishing with my son, our battery power was completely gone. We were halfway to the resort, travelling in the dark, and ran out of gas. We had no oars or paddles so we used our fishing net to paddle to shore. Then my best friend (member of the P.W.T. Fishing team) towed us back.

Being able to hop into the boat and head out on the water all day.

Fishing - the few people on the water

Stories:
Our eldest son cooked for us!

Finally the boys 16 and 18 took their own fish off the hook!

A bear outside the cabin, an osprey snatch a dead walleye

Mike's Famous Fish Fry at the Tall Tale Tavern

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
Loons, cabins, guests and Johnson's Resort

Stories:
A deer came to drink from the lake while we were fishing. An osprey grabbed Alyssa's walleye out of the lake. We got it on video!

  1. Went for a boat ride to parts of the flowage we have never been

  3. Went into town and visited the Candy store Yummy fudge....
Most remarkable thing we saw:
A Great Blue Heron (a young one) came down and pecked at my muskie lure. Yanked it away before he got hooked!

Best place we ate:
R&R Bayview for breakfast, Deerfoot for Burgers, and Musky Tale for that after fishing Pizza

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
You can always find a place out of the wind!

Stories:
Great Blue Heron story under Most remarkable thing we saw. We also saw two bear on our trip. One ran across the road (near Johnson's resort driveway) and we saw one come down to the water's edge near Chippewa Pines. My 11 year old son had his first Muskie on his pole however the fish took the bait (surface lure) down into the weeds and shook loose. He now knows next time he must set the hook! Great vacation and can't wait till next time!!

It is SO-O-O-O Big

Lumberjack Championships and 5 otters swimming

Fish from the flowage in our cabin

Views, not built up with houses

Stories:
Met many good people and will be back next summer

Stories:
When we were driving a bear cub ran across the road, and then a few minutes later a buck zig zagged back and forth across the road.

Stories:
Seeing bears and bald eagles was one of the major highlights of our stay!

2 different black bears, One while fishing, one eating at the birdfeeders at the lodge. Otters and at least 10 bald eagles.

One of the bass we caught became so frantic trying to escape he spit his dinner of a partially digested minnow at us!

"Our cabins - each cabin had a night for cooking, so we always have something new to eat without dishwasing every night."

The wildlife

Stories:
"My daughter is 2 1/2. She wanted me to carry her so the bear didn't get her. She happened to be wearing her favorite Kitty pajamas. She said The bear will come out of the woods and say 'Hi, do you have kitties on your jammies?' It was so funny. The flowage sure gets her imagination going!"

We saw deer wading in the water and munching on greens from the water.

Our favorite pizza spot is Coop's in Hayward

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
After 18 years of vacationing at Reeder's Recess Resort we are still awed by the breath taking natural beauty and appreciate the natural environment rather than development.

Stories:
"We canoed the Namekagon River for the second year. We again rented from Lee at a local canoe rental busines. He remembered us as the couple who capsized last year. We assured him we were more experienced. Unbelieveably, we capsized again and lost a paddle (and sandal)When we ran into a fallen tree we happily recovered our lost paddle (and sandal!)The landing at Springbrook did not go happily however and we lost the newly found sandal and paddle again. Lee says he will customize a route for us next year! We can hardly wait."

"We caught a great string of Northerns, smallmouth bass, perch in a matter of 45 minutes on Cranberry Lake with frog lures."

Stories:
Nearly cut in half by a log while tubing the Namekagon! All left rested and in one piece. Also saw a coyote!

"Tree stumps poking out of 23' deep water, and a wolf by the side of the road"

Sunsets - full moon reflecting on the water and the beautiful colors as the sunsets below the tree tops.

Stories:
"Wildlife we saw: Wolf,eagle, turkey vulture, deer,eagle getting fish from water, loons, rabbits, chipmunks, blue heron, and a little friend who kept going by the stairs to the cabin - a chunky toad"

Spending time with the people I care about in the most beautiful place in the world.

Stories:
On our last beautiful night here Rick started up a campfire and cooked up some tasty hot dogs and marshmallows for s'mores over the flames. It was the perfect last goodbye to a perfect vacation.

When we were walking by the pool we saw the bear. He had a brown face and he was black.

The loons. We always love watching and listening to them.

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
"Simply relaxing, so peaceful especially early in the morning and after sunset."

Stories:
This was our first stay at a resort and it was great. We saw loons with a recently hatched baby on a parents' back. The adult would swim out from under the baby and look for food. The baby would swim to the other adult. After the first adult surfaced the second parent swam out from under the baby and the baby swam to the first adult. This continued for quite a while.

The best thing about the Chippewa Flowage is:
Catching good sized small mouth 16 1/2. Seeing an eagle on the water in front of the cottage. All the beautiful loons.

Stories:
Bob was bringing the fish out of the water by the boat. He couldn't believe how heavy it was. When he pulled it out of the water there was a HUGE snapping turtle hanging on to the live net.
